Wikicities relaunches as Wikia

WikiaAs you may know, Wikia already hosts some of the world’s largest wikis on hundreds of topics ranging from politics to pets. Since the site’s launch in November 2004, over 1000 Wikia have been created and edited by over 20,000 registered users in over 35 languages. However, over the past year, the name Wikicities has often caused confusion, with many people believing it was a site for city guides rather than wikis about any topic.

We hope you the users of your wikis will find the new name Wikia easier to type, and less confusing.

If you have any questions or concerns about this, please contact us or join the #wikia IRC channel on freenode to discuss the change with other Wikia users.
